“Eco-friendly” is how you feel when you buy something that seems
good for the environment because it looks “green,” or the label has
three bent arrows chasing each other in a triangular loop, or words
like recycled, recyclable and natural, without defining what they
mean. It's like, “Dude, I hope I'm saving the Earth!”
“Eco-mean” is how you feel when you stop hugging trees and start
throwing rocks. Nah, not at the trees, but at companies that pose
as your eco-friends instead of just explaining the materials used
in their products and how they get produced from start to finish,
so that people can make the most informed choices possible. It's
like, “Dude, show me what you're made of!”
Fake Forest researches and designs products to have minimal
impact on the Earth's resources. We consider and make known all
ingredients, percentages, and processes.

Our launch product, Vintage Magazines Notes is a set of folded
writing sheets and window envelopes (A2) made with popular
periodicals of the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s including LIFE,
LOOK, Holiday and The Saturday Evening Post.
Each envelope is an authentic souvenir from the early advertising,
design and photojournalism of American culture. Hand-selected.
No two alike.
Set includes: 5 repurposed envelopes, 10 sheets recycled paper
(100% postconsumer, acid free, process chlorine free). Low impact
packaging: 100% biodegradable cello bag, recycled label (30% PCW),
non-toxic adhesives and soy-based inks (60%).
Process: We buy the magazines from a variety of sources like garage
sales, thrift stores and magazine warehouses. We hand select pages
from the magazines and "convert" (industry term for the process of
die-cutting, folding and gluing) them into envelopes. No computer
scanning or printing is involved. Our envelopes are made with original
vintage magazine stock. The writing sheets are printed by an offset
printer using "direct-to-plate" film-less technology, without toxic
photographic chemicals. All wholesale orders are shipped in corrugated
stock cartons (59% recycled, 44% PCW).
